On the second anniversary of the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana in Germany, the current conservative administration has launched a harsh criticism against the results of the measure inherited from the previous government.
In a joint statement, the Ministries of Health, Interior and Family indicated that the regulations have weakened child protection strategies, describing the initiative as a strategic failure that puts the public health of new generations at risk.
The Minister of Health, Nina Warken, was forceful in stating that the prevention of consumption among young people has been compromised, a position supported by the head of the Interior, Alexander Dobrint, who linked the law to an increase in crime rates.
For her part, the Minister of Family, Karin Prien, argued that the previous coalition fractured the pillars of education against addictions, creating a scenario where recreational consumption has gained ground in the face of social security.
These statements are based on the recent report of a panel of experts, which reveals worrying distortions in law enforcement.
Key findings include the diversion of medical cannabis to the black market, the need to intensify the fight against organized crime and an alarming decline in the number of young people seeking professional counseling against addiction.
Currently, the legislation allows adults to carry up to 25 grams on public roads and grow three plants in their homes, parameters that the new executive office will review after the results presented.
