Gil: UN expert report confirms that the US manufactures enemies to justify supposed right to defense

The foreign minister, Yván Gil, highlighted the relevance of the recent statement issued by experts from the United Nations (UN), who warn that the use of lethal force in international waters without legal justification constitutes a violation of international law.

“Ben Saul, Morris Tidball-Binz and George Katrougalos (...) corroborate what we have been denouncing: the United States manufactures enemies to justify a supposed right to defense, which results in massacres in the Caribbean Sea.”

He also noted that this important statement emphasizes that “the long history of external interventions in Latin America must not be repeated.”

Finally, he reiterated the call for dialogue and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela.
