The Government of Aragua deployed more than two thousand 100 security personnel, starting the special operation “San Juan Bautista 2026", in order to protect the more than 12 thousand seasonal workers who are expected to visit the coastal axis for these traditional festivities.
The entity's Secretary General of Government, Belén Arteaga, reported that the operation will be active from Tuesday, June 23, to next Thursday, June 25. However, the authorities will be under permanent evaluation due to traffic flow, so the device could be extended throughout the weekend.
“We are here to inform our population of Aragüeña and all the tourists who will visit us as part of the festivities of San Juan that we have a maximum security deployment. We want to ensure the protection required for these important cultural and religious activities in Choroní, Cuyagua, Chuao, Cepe and Ocumare de la Costa (Gold Coast),” said Arteaga.
The authority stressed that for this holiday the tourist projections are highly positive, since it is estimated that more than 12 thousand seasonal workers will arrive on the coast of the entity.
For his part, the sectoral secretary of the People's Power for Prevention and Citizen Security, Jesús Fernández Alayón, highlighted the impressive strength of men, women and technical equipment that make up this device.
“A total of 2,100 officials will be deployed at strategic points (...) Likewise, there will be 100 vehicles, 250 motorcycles and 4 cranes,” he said.
He also emphasized that the air and maritime component will be reinforced by a surveillance helicopter and four boats from the Bolivarian National Guard's Coastal Surveillance Command (GNB), units that will operate in perfect coordination with the Bolivarian National Police (PNB).
As a preventive measure, the authorities reported that a vehicle restriction will be applied during night hours for providers of public transport and excursion services that are foreigners (coming from other states).
This restriction responds to road safety factors, since the road that crosses the Henri Pittier National Park is highly geographically and climatically complex at night.
“With this preventive measure, we seek to avoid incidents and ensure that the trip is safe and smooth for all devotees and tourists,” they said.
