The governor of the Bolivarian state of Aragua, Johana Sánchez, presented the Volunteering for Life program, an initiative that will include the comprehensive training of men and women with the purpose of strengthening community response capacity to emergencies.
Sánchez explained that the primary objective of the proposal is to consolidate effective levels of organization in the face of possible events of natural, socio-natural or technological origin.
Through this scheme, each participant seeks to acquire fundamental concepts and practical skills essential for response and recovery in situations that may compromise the integrity of the population.
The program currently has a strong base of 5,209 registered volunteers, 59% are women and 41% are men.
This citizen network has a direct presence in 17 jurisdictions of the state, covering the municipalities: Santiago Mariño, Girardot, Francisco Linares Alcántara, José Ángel Lamas, Zamora, Mario Briceño Iragorry, Ocumare de la Costa de Oro, Libertador, Sucre, Camatagua, San Sebastián, Las Tejerías, José Rafael Revenga, Bolívar, Urdaneta and San Casimiro.
To ensure optimal preparation, volunteer training is structured in theoretical-practical phases.
