As part of the celebration of 533 years of Indigenous Resistance, the Government of the Guayana Esequiba state, in coordination with the Essequibo Social Action Foundation, held a day of comprehensive health and social assistance for the native populations.
The activity focused on the Pozo Oscura indigenous community, where more than 500 people were treated in various medical areas.
With the support of the Ministry of People's Power for Health, more than 4,000 units of medication were delivered to patients free of charge.
The governor of the entity, Neil Villamizar, stressed that health is a fundamental priority in its management, especially for indigenous populations. “Health is a priority and even more so for the indigenous populations of the state of Guayana Esequiba. We continue to make progress on the issue of health, ensuring that well-being reaches all our corners,” said the regional authority.
In other actions to commemorate this date, materials were also delivered for the improvement of the community's school, in order to guarantee decent and quality educational spaces for the children and young people of Pozo Oscura.
