Government of La Guaira will sanction motorcyclists who violate the rule

The governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, announced a series of measures to contain the increase in traffic accidents, a problem that he described as a public health issue.
Terán highlighted that more than 80% of cases treated in emergencies are related to motorcycle accidents; a situation that has led to a collapse in hospital capacity.
He also added that “we have collapsed hospitals of people waiting to be operated on for traumatology. We have made a significant investment in equipment to solve those complex cases that come to us, but in addition, we treat cases of injured people who deserve osteosynthesis material in the order of 6,000 dollars,” he said.
Regarding the actions to be taken to reduce this problem, he indicated that “we have issued precise instructions to public security bodies to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic regulations. It cannot be that motorized vehicles drive without helmets, in the opposite direction, with more than two people or with children on board.”
In that regard, he explained that those who violate these rules “we are going to apply more severe fines and in serious cases, violators will face strong legal consequences.
