The Government of Portuguesa is intensifying work to reopen pedestrian and vehicle crossings, after the heavy rains this weekend had a strong impact on roads and left several sectors of the Sucre municipalities, in Biscucuy and in Unda, Chabasquén, incommunicado.
The governor of the entity, Primitivo Cedeño, together with the Risk Management Agencies, Civil Protection, Firefighters and the entire government team are working on the necessary tasks with heavy machinery and personnel to clear roads.
Through his account on the social network Instagram, Cedeño stated that “from the first moment the tragedy caused by the intense rains occurred, we have activated a total deployment of our government teams to serve our people”.
“We know that this situation has affected many families and communities, and our priority is to provide the necessary help so that each of you can recover as soon as possible. Our teams have been working tirelessly to free up roads and ensure access to the most affected areas,” he said.
He said that “we are committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to return to their homes and recover what they have lost. Every day, our workers have dedicated themselves to restoring roads, clearing debris and providing assistance to those who need it most.”
In addition, Portuguese Civil Protection, in its account on the same social network, highlights that from the Sucre municipality “El Central” sector, “our Risk Management System team is working hard to achieve road recovery among the affected sectors”.
He points out that these sectors “are kept incommunicado due to the landslide and the overflow of the “Los Giles” stream in the past #Sabado in the early hours of the morning after the heavy rains that occurred in the area due to the passage of Tropical Wave Number 30, leaving 40 homes affected and one person dead”.
