The elected candidate for the governor of the state of Guayana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, highlighted the participation of the people in the electoral process, especially of the 24 indigenous communities of the entity.

After his victory was announced, Villamizar addressed the People, whom he thanked for their participation, while stating that the victory in this state “is nothing more than the presentation of the national sentiment of that great objective for the recovery of the legacy of our Liberator Simon Bolivar and of all our Liberators, for the great dream of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez and for the great dream of all Venezuelans.”

He also said that despite foreign threats, “the people of Guayana Essequiba went out to exercise their right to vote.”

“They weren't worth threats, they weren't worth intimidation, the international and imperialist media campaign against these elections was worthless,” he said.
