Grade 2 injury! Jeferson Soteldo is out of the group stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

The Brazilian team Fluminense announced that Venezuelan Jeferson Soteldo will not be able to compete in the group stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The announcement was made by the club through a statement on its social networks, in which it explained that Soteldo experienced physical discomfort in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in which Venezuela played against Uruguay.
“The player Soteldo arrived at the hotel of the Fluminense delegation in Columbia, South Carolina, in the United States, early this Saturday morning. Upon examination by the club's Medical Department, a grade 2 injury was detected in the posterior muscle of the left thigh,” the statement said.
The new Venezuelan team is part of group F and will debut this Tuesday, June 17 against Borussia Dortmund. They will face Ulsan from South Korea on Saturday 21st and Mamelodi from South Africa on Wednesday 25th.
Soteldo will have options to play in the championship if his team advances through the round.
