Gustavo Vizcaíno: We are willing to take the Office of the Comptroller General to the highest level

After his election and swearing in by the National Assembly (AN), as the new Comptroller General of the Republic, Gustavo Vizcaíno Gil, he said that “it is a great responsibility, with which we are willing to take the Comptroller's Office to the highest level and put it at the service of the People.”

In statements to the media, he said that “our public officials must take care of national assets (...) We are going to do all our work and here we are starting it, God willing, we hope to develop it”.

He thanked the deputies of the National Parliament for the new opportunity offered to him to be in charge of the highest fiscal control body.

Vizcaíno Gil, is a lawyer with a doctorate in public security. In 2002 he was Municipal Trustee of the Mayor's Office of Caracas; the following year he was legal consultant to the Metropolitan Council of the capital. In 2005, he was coordinator of the office of the National Assembly; later, in 2007, he was Director of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country.

For 2013, he was president of the Sovereign People's Foundation; then, in 2014, he was permanent secretary of the Council of Ministers. He already held the position of Comptroller General of the Republic, in 2016, and two years later (2018) he was general director of the Administrative Service for Identification and Aliens (SAIME).

Before his appointment, he served as alternate rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
