Havana will become the epicenter of the media debate from April 16 to 18 during the 5th edition of the International Patria Colloquium. This event will bring together specialists and media to analyze current practices in the sector, with a critical focus on the challenges faced by communication in Cuba and its strategic positioning in the complex international scenario.
Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, president of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), stressed that this colloquium is consolidated as a vital space for resistance and feedback between allies. In a context of growing external pressure against the island, the meeting seeks to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the face of hegemonic narratives affecting the nations of the global South.
The thematic agenda will address cutting-edge areas such as technological sovereignty, the impact of artificial intelligence on content production and the influence of social networks on political power.
In addition, strategies of political communication and popular organization will be discussed as fundamental tools for the defense of national identity against large global platforms.
The event will be attended by delegations from the Russian Federation, Mexico and Venezuela, together with international media such as Russia Today (RT), Al Mayadeen and Telesur. As a special attraction, interactive materials dedicated to Fidel Castro will be presented, in a series of tributes scheduled to commemorate the centenary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
