In his program Maduro Live de Repente, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, commented on the election process in Ecuador. “Ecuador's CNE acts against civil society and closes the doors to electoral transparency,” he said.

The National President read the headline of an Ecuadorian media outlet that reads: “Fraud in Ecuador. Ecuador's National Electoral Council refuses to count votes, despite serious allegations of irregularities. 14,000 ballots have been challenged by different political and social organizations in Ecuador.”

He stressed that the attitude of the Ecuadorian CNE “was predictable, it slams the door to Ecuadorian civil society, slams the door to international organizations and simply closes the door of any legal, constitutional review that would give some transparency to a process plagued by fraud, crime, dirt, violence, repression, threat and where the ticket of drug trafficking ran from top to bottom.”

President Maduro assured that there is a disconnect between politicians and the needs of the Ecuadorian people.
