The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported that through the food saturation offensive deployed in the country on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week, 2,700 communes and a total of 10 million people were served. He said that it is expected to reach 2,961 this week, that is, 2 million 206 thousand Venezuelan families.
In a new Maduro Live de Repente, the Head of State explained that an impressive movement of 1,316 large heavy-duty trucks is taking place, full of food produced by the same people in Venezuelan territory for a happy and peaceful Christmas.
“It's logistics, it's Venezuela's food army, producing everything here and bringing it to the people with quality and at the best price. From 30% discount to 70% on many top quality products,” he said.
So far, 845 sovereign country fairs or open-air
markets have been held, and 86 MERCAL and PDVAL establishments have been recovered.
“We are going to recover them all, there are 410, already recovered and
handed over to the communities, as it should be in communal self-management,” President Maduro specified.
119 peasant
agrofairs have also been held with 220 grassroots peasant councils, plus 151 fish
fairs with 100 councils of fishermen and women fishermen.
In addition, 2,875 solidarity wineries are in the national recovery plan.
