The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro, reported that last Saturday the officials of the Office
of the High Commissioners of the United Nations
(UN) for Human Rights (DDHH), operating in Caracas, left the country after the announcement of the
suspension of activities in this space.
“They came out to describe the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Judiciary
and the country abusively, breaking the rules of the signed document, it was
that technical office and some of its spokespersons who broke the terms and principles
of the signed agreement, violated the letter and spirit of the United
Nations Charter (...) the institutions have responded and effectively to these people, they were
given 72 hours, they all left the country on Saturday, fortunately,” said the
head of state during the 34th edition of his show Con Maduro+.
In this regard, he stressed that “as long as that office does not
respect the letter of the United Nations, does not respect the independence and sovereignty of
Venezuela and does not rectify and apologize publicly, they will not return to the country.”
The Dignitary reiterated that this decision does not imply that Venezuela will
not continue to comply with its international commitments in the area of human rights. “
We are faithful compliers, if there is a country that fulfills all its commitments, absolutely
all, with the United Nations Organization it is Venezuela,
we are founders of the Human Rights Council, we have participated there, we are
the promoters of the global defense of Human Rights,” he stressed.
He indicated that the Office of the High Commissioner is silent in the
face of the genocide in Gaza, so he stressed that “it has no morals to talk about
Venezuela, so until they rectify, ask for forgiveness and a relationship of respect can be
restored, they will not return to Venezuela, that
technical office will not return to Venezuela,” he remarked.
