Head of State: Salvador Allende is an eternal symbol of the struggle and resistance of the Chilean people

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute to the social fighter Salvador Allende, on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of his birth.

“Salvador Allende is an eternal symbol of the struggle and resistance of the Chilean people, a leader who forged his way in the streets of that Chile in transformation during the 40's, 50's and 60's. He was the builder of one of the most wonderful popular movements ever known in the history of the consequent left, of the courageous left of our continent,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also specified that Allende is remembered with “respect, admiration and love, knowing that his message continues to resonate in every corner where the fight for justice and dignity is expressed”.
