The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed the country's sovereignty over Guiana Essequiba and rejected any external interference in the historic dispute over the Geneva Agreement.
“Sooner rather than later, the president of Guyana, employee of Exxonmobil, Irfaan Ali, must sit down with me to talk and accept the sovereignty of Venezuela,” said Maduro.
After exercising his right to vote in legislative and regional elections, the National President emphasized that the electoral process represents a firm step in the consolidation of the State of Guiana, created after the referendum of December 3, 2023, in which the Venezuelan people decided to form their authorities and territorial structure.
The head of state recalled that the National Assembly approved the Organic Law of Guiana and that election day allows for the first time, in 200 years of struggle, to elect national deputies, members of the legislative council and governor of the state of Guyana, all within the constitutional and legal framework.
He urged the population to actively participate in the elections, stressing the importance of voting in the consolidation of national sovereignty.
“To vote, to vote, to triumph, to triumph,” said Maduro.
