The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called on his Colombian counterpart to join efforts to free the Colombian-Venezuelan border from drug trafficking.
During the Working Meeting with the Political and Military High Command and the authorities elected by the People, the national president said that “from Venezuela I call on President Petro that what is left of the government we join forces to liberate the entire border (...) the Venezuelan border is now liberated.”
In this regard, he urged the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, to “coordinate and build a large zone of economic development and peace on the border”, while assuring that our country has the “conditions to do so, because Venezuela, the revolutionary one, has advanced and will continue to advance democratically.”
He also highlighted the importance of consolidating border security, “because we have permanent threats from Colombia to drug trafficking, terrorism and conspiracy.”
