The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the completion and delivery of works managed directly by communities as part of a deeply democratic and popular system of government.
“Venezuelan participatory and popular democracy is very far from the concept of bourgeois democracy in Western countries and decadent empires. The Revolution has been organized from the territory, with its protagonist ordinary men and women, simple people,” said the Head of State.
He also specified that participatory democracy is not an alternative to the concept of formal democracy, but rather a possible expression of a new type of Government of the People and with the People.
“We are building true democracy of the Peoples, and let no one be mistaken with Venezuela, with a system that serves to make permanent decisions for Venezuelans,” stressed the national president during the commemoration of the 13th anniversary of the “Timon Coup”.
