The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified the construction of true democracy in the country, where power resides in the people.
During his participation in the grand march for the 166th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Inés, in Caracas, the head of state stated that “we continue to build a powerful democracy, because it is a democracy with an empowered people.”
He recalled what the Liberator Simon Bolivar and Simon Rodriguez warn about air republics. “Well, to those who talk about democracy in a vacuum, we say: Peel your eyes, buddy, and look at the Venezuelan people in the streets constantly demonstrating their power day by day,” he said.
In this regard, he urged “to continue building the power of the nation every day, and the true basis of a country's power is its people, its values, its education, its culture, its conscience, its organizational power, its power to be a true government and not air governments embedded in presidential palaces”.
