Heavy rains affect homes in Bolivia

In Bolivia, 27 deaths and 665 homes have been affected so far, as a result of the heavy rain season that began in November last year, according to the Bolivian Deputy Minister of Civil Defense, Carlos Calvimontes.

According to the report of the emergency forces, in Cochabamba there is the highest number of deaths with a record of 11 people; seven in La Paz, six in Chuquisaca, of whom one has been missing since last week, according to international agencies.

Likewise, Calvimontes described that the floods affected eight apartments and one of them declared a state of emergency. In Bolivia, according to details provided by the Civil Defense authority, 27 municipalities were declared in a disaster situation, while the affected communities comprise 1,443, with 86,809 families reported in the same condition; and 29,404 families classified as victims. In the same way, 665 homes are registered as affected and 333 as completely destroyed.

The Deputy Minister of Civil Defense of Bolivia alleged that the country is going through a difficult time due to the rainy season and warned that the floods will persist during this month and the first days of March. In this regard, he suggested that the nation 's regional governors be alert and take precautions with strategic plans.
