At least 20 homes were affected by the floods recorded, on the night of this Saturday, January 10, in El Salvador, specifically in the residential Ciudad Marsella II, located on the road to San Juan Opico, La Libertad Centro.

The Venezolana de Televisión website indicates that the final number of affected homes will be known after a census carried out by the Directorate of Civil Protection and the Ministry of Housing, confirmed the head of the latter government agency, Michelle Sol, in her account on the social network X.

“For this morning, more inspections will be carried out with technical equipment and checks in the area of the hydraulic system where there were damages,” he said.

Affected neighbors posted videos on social networks in which they were seen walking between water and furniture in their homes.

The Salvadoran Minister of Housing considered that “at first glance it can be seen that the drainage system did not work properly; this will be confirmed by the corresponding technical inspection”.

For this reason, he announced that construction and allotment permits are suspended in the national territory for the company that manages the project, as well as for its allied companies, “until compliance with all legal processes is guaranteed and the affected families have been compensated”.

On social media, those affected say that they were still paying for the houses and that their furniture and appliances had been ruined. The official assured that a census will be carried out, family by family, to assess the damages and demand that the company respond.
