The values that represent the hero of independence Antonio José de Sucre must be “assumed as their own” by the country's young leaders, the rector of the International School of Youth Leadership, Héctor Rodríguez, said Monday.

During a master class with the students of the second group of the introductory course of the first cohort of this institution, Rodríguez highlighted three values “among the many that the Marshal has”, which must be pillars in the entire training process: Loyalty to Simon Bolivar's project, seeking a multipolar world without empires, and social justice.

“It's the same ideal as Bolivar. Sucre was infinitely loyal to Bolívar, but even more so to his ideas, to his project of a great homeland, of a united Latin America without colonialism; a multipolar world, as well as the creation of a society where social justice prevails, an egalitarian society,” he said.

In addition, according to a press release from the Education portfolio, the rector of the leadership school told young people that to be a good leader you have to have a defined working method and “a lot of organization”, bringing up again the example of Sucre: “He was an extremely disciplined and methodical man, and that must be one of the characteristics that young people who graduate from this school must have. That's why the activities that are done here, waking up early, exercising, reading, classes, are properly planned, designed according to some objectives,” he argued.

Last Monday, the 17th, was the opening class of this school with the first group of students, who received introductory training for a week. On this occasion, 160 youth leaders from Cojedes, Portuguesa, Guárico, Apure, Monagas, Sucre and Falcón participate, while next week a third and final group will enter, and then give way to the formal pensum.

The Antonio José de Sucre International Youth Leadership School, located in Filas de Mariche, Sucre municipality of Miranda state, was inaugurated on February 12 by President Nicolás Maduro with the objective of providing tools for youth leadership, both in Venezuela and in other countries. Academic programs are mainly aimed at the international level, at young people who are in community dynamics, student leaders, as well as those with government tasks.
