Historic harvest of 14 medals for the Venezuelan delegation at the Kempo World Championship

The Venezuelan delegation made a historic performance at the Kempo 2026 World Championship, held in the city of Antalya, Turkey.
During the competition, which took place from April 20 to 26, the Venezuelan athletes demonstrated their high competitive level by taking on the global elite of this discipline. The national team closed its participation with an impressive medal table consisting of two gold medals, one silver and eleven bronze medals.
In the individual category, Génesis Castro emerged as the most prominent figure when she was crowned world champion in form with weapons (senior category), also adding two bronzes in hands-free and combat. For his part, Carlos Ávila secured the second gold metal for the country in the semikenpo combat category of -85kg, while Danyimar Albarracín provided a valuable silver medal in the -60kg division.
The Venezuelan success also extended to strength and technical tests, where Francoise Pérez achieved a bronze triplet in the categories of weapons, hands-free and heavy combat (-95kg). These individual victories consolidated Venezuela's presence on the podium against international powers, reaffirming the prowess of the national Kempokas in the various variants of martial art.
Finally, the team excelled in the self-defense modality, managing to climb to the podium in the women's 1vs1, mixed and team categories. The quartet made up of Castro, Ávila, Albarracín and Pérez demonstrated exceptional coordination to obtain third place in the group, thus closing a week of sporting glory that positions Venezuela as a world leader in Kempo.
