The Municipal Women's Institute of the Caroní municipality certified 250 community defenders who will join the local defense system against gender-based violence.
The activity was carried out in the local government auditorium, this regional body reported, on its account of the social network Instagram.
He specified that with this activity there are 450 community fighters who will be deployed in the 11 parishes of the municipality, carrying out work from the bases of missions, the first circle of attention being given to the different cases that occur in the communities.
The day was attended by the mayor of Caroní, Tito Oviedo, who recognized the collective and individual effort made by each defender to maintain a life free of violence through example and coexistence framed by respect.
Oviedo highlighted that the protection of women in the municipality has been increasing due to the materialization and execution of national policies created by the national executive.
For her part, the president of the Municipal Institute for Women and the Women's House, Oritsy Rojas, explained that the certification of each defender was carried out with prior preparation, where different State institutions, such as the Public Ministry, Directorate for Crime Prevention, Public Defense, State and Municipal Police, held various workshops that provided legal and psychological tools to each participant.
Rojas explained that one of the most outstanding aspects of each defender's preparation comes from the personal connection of each protagonist and their experiences, which reflects a common starting point in each care.
“What was achieved today strengthens an entire primary circle of care for women created by Mayor Tito Oviedo and framed in the fourth vertex of the Great Venezuela Women's Mission and we will not rest until the indices in each parish fall,” he said.
In this regard, he pointed out that with the implementation of the violet circle in each sector, comprehensive care will be “total because we already have the first stage of reception with the defenders and then incorporate psychologists, lawyers and the other officials involved.”
As for specific statistics, it became known that so far this year more than 200 awareness-raising talks have been held throughout the municipality, to promote and disseminate the fight against this crime on a daily basis, as well as the holding of 30 banners at the main traffic lights in the city to carry the message.
