On February 24, 1962, the Simon Bolivar International Bridge, the main communication route between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Colombia, was inaugurated.

Its construction began in 1919 during the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez. It is 315 meters long, has 2 lanes and a width of 7.3 meters, and its foundations rise above the Táchira River.

It connects San José de Cúcuta and Villa del Rosario with the Venezuelan cities of San Antonio and San Cristóbal in the state of Táchira. The structure has served as a great economic flow for both nations, in addition to a historical cultural window.

This building witnessed the Battle of the Bridges on February 23, 2019, where the civic-military union defeated the attempted invasion from Colombia against the country. An action that revealed once again the complicity between Juan Guaidó and Iván Duque to attack Venezuela. However, they did not have the strength and courage of Venezuelans who did not allow them to stain the sacred soil of the Fatherland.
