The Secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) for Social Movements, Popular Power and the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), Héctor Rodríguez, urged the country's social leadership to continue with the debate, review and renewal even beyond this process, whose first phase ends in two weeks.
This was expressed from the Teatro Principal in Caracas, where this Thursday, December 4, a national assembly was held to review compliance with the agenda set for the constituent process of social movements convened by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, last September.
“Movements must, permanently, be in a constituent dynamic, renewing, re-legitimizing themselves, searching where spokespersons are needed, growing in organic capacity, in leadership, and renewing ideas, beyond the assembly process,” he explained in a publication on the PSUV portal.
He reiterated that this constituent also seeks the debate of ideas and “a connection to the ground” of spokespersons and spokespersons.
He also stated that leadership must be constantly active in its natural space, that is, the factory, the conuco, the school, universities, health centers, and other settings to promote “a debate that helps in political pedagogy and that also helps leadership to listen”.
In this context, Rodríguez highlighted the importance of respecting that the method in each assembly is dialoguing and not reduced to a leader who says: “this is what needs to be done.”
“First, leadership listens to three, four or more voices in the debate that is taking place in each space, with a method where people also feel free to say things, so that you (leader) can constantly be perceiving what is happening,” he argued.
Rodríguez alerted social leaders to the enemy's intention to depoliticize society to achieve its objective and recalled that Venezuela is currently under threat from the U.S. empire because of the desire to seize the country's resources.
For this reason, he added, there must be permanent mobilization and debate. “Sometimes someone might say an assembly again? Yes, it's always going to be that way. We are always going to be in a process of political upheaval and political renewal, which is also quite the opposite of what the enemy wants,” he reaffirmed.
The constituent process of social movements began in October with the creation of promotional teams, followed in November with a great debate in all spaces that will last during the first half of December, and then conclude in a national plenary session.
