On June 1, tropical waves will begin to pass through Cape Verde in Africa and will cross the Atlantic, so it is estimated that of the 55 and 60 waves that are generated at least 45 and 50 will touch the national territory, as reported by the president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), Reidy Zambrano in the program “Coffee in the Morning”, which broadcasts Venezolana de Televisión.

In this regard, Zambrano noted that the Risk Management System maintains detailed monitoring of the conditions caused by the rainy season, which began in southern Venezuela, and is expected to begin in the central region starting in mid-May and early June.

From the Risk Management System, we keep a very detailed monitoring of these conditions and in a comprehensive way we serve the most vulnerable communities, in a very detailed way we monitor all the variables that may influence,” Zambrano explained.

He indicated that this season begins due to the influence of the La Niña weather phenomenon, characterized by low temperatures and heavy rainfall.

He recalled that Venezuela's climate is marked by a dry period that begins in November and ends in April, and a rainy season that continues immediately, and which is characterized by the intertropical convergence zone. He elaborated that on June 1st, tropical waves will begin to pass through, which “Cape Verde in Africa and cross the Atlantic, we are estimating between 55 and 60 waves and that could pass through the national territory between 45 and 50".

Weather alert

Prior to his announcement on Venezuelan meteorology, he warned that the World Meteorological Organization reflected in its most recent report that last year was the hottest on record, during which all records were broken. “Since June 2023, every month, records have been broken in temperatures, this directly influences the meteorological dynamics of our country,” he argued.
