The president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), Reidy Zambrano, reported that the decrease in rainfall in the midst of the rainy season that Venezuela is going through, is due to the dust that is currently being perceived in our nation's atmosphere, coming from the Sahara Desert of Africa through the wind.
However, in a press release from the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Zambrano said that during this weekend these dust particles will decrease, so it is expected that starting next Monday, August 26, the rains will restart in the country.
He recalled that there are currently between 58 and 65 tropical waves that cross the Venezuelan geography, of which 32 have already passed through the country, so it is estimated that on Wednesday 28th of this month, number 33 will arrive in Venezuelan territory, which will enter our Guiana Esequiba.
He also highlighted that five of the between 17 and 25 storms have been identified as a result of cyclonic activity that began in June over the national territory, causing rains in areas close to the mountain range of the country's north coast, specifically in the states of Aragua, Carabobo, La Guaira, Sucre and the Capital District.
Zambrano added that such cyclonic activity will also cause precipitation in the Venezuelan Andean region.
He added that on instructions from the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, the Rain Plan is fully implemented, to prevent any eventuality generated by rainfall. “We fulfilled this Rain Plan under the perfect Civic Military Police Union,” he said.
“It is important to highlight that there is a National Risk Management System, as stated by the Deputy Minister of Risk Management, Admiral Juan Carlos Oti Paituvi, that maintains 24-hour monitoring, so the call to the population is to trust the State, and to the support of all the organs of the Bolivarian Government,” he stressed.
