INAMEH predicts that between 45 and 50 tropical waves will touch Venezuelan territory this year

The president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), Reidy Zambrano, reported that it is estimated that this year between 45 and 50 tropical waves will pass through the national territory.

He explained that on June 1, tropical waves will begin to pass through Cape Verde in Africa and they will cross the Atlantic, and it is estimated that of the 60 waves that are generated at least 45 and 50 will touch the national territory.

During her participation in the Coffee in the Morning program broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, she asserted that in an integrated manner with the National Risk Management System, a very detailed monitoring of weather conditions is maintained.

He recalled that in Venezuela there are only two periods, there are no seasons like in high and low latitudes. “We have a dry period that began in November and ends in April and a rainy period that began in April in the South of the country,” he added.

In this regard, he explained that the rainy period is gradually ascending to the north at the end of May or the beginning of June and that rainy period would enter the central region.

“Southern states such as our Guiana Esequiba, Amazonas, Bolivar, Apure, Táchira, Mérida, Barinas and Trujillo have already started this rainy season since Friday of Holy Week,” he said.
