India's Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, called on member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to implement a zero-tolerance policy with respect to terrorism, stressing that there are no valid arguments to support this phenomenon.
During the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO, held in Moscow on November 17 and 18 under the direction of the Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Mishustin, Jaishankar stated that the threat of terrorism, together with separatism and extremism, continues to grow and requires coordinated responses.
He indicated that the organization must adapt its working mechanisms and expand its agenda to address current challenges. He stressed that the SCO was created precisely to combat these risks and that its role remains essential.
The SCO, founded in 2001, brings together Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Burma, Cambodia, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait, Laos, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey are participating as dialogue partners. Afghanistan and Mongolia are listed as observers.
