The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) scheduled to take place from January 22 to 26, 2025, in Madrid, Spain, will feature a prominent presence of Latin American and Caribbean countries, including Venezuela, which will show its advances in tourism, reported the Prensa Latina portal.
According to the organizers of the event, based at the IFEMA Madrid venue, Brazil will finally be the Invited Country, as Mexico postpones this category to the 2026 event.
In its 45th edition, FITUR will nonetheless have a notable participation from Mexico, along with the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Jamaica, Guatemala and Venezuela, among others.
The event aligns with the global challenge of tourism and puts sustainability at the center of its programming to contribute to solid economic growth, highlighted by the meeting with tour operators, hoteliers, airlines and restaurateurs from all over the world. They also pointed out that in 2024 there were a quarter of a million visitors and the participation of nine thousand companies from 152 countries.
As its main objective, the exhibition presents two of its major projects. On the one hand, the FITURNEXT Observatory, the platform dedicated to promoting good practices; and the 2025 Challenge, focused on how tourism can contribute to sustainable food management.
Along these lines and after the analysis of nearly 300 proposals, the Sustainable Gastronomic Routes of Extremadura (Spain), Hurtigruten Cruises (Norway) and T oo Good To Go (Denmark) were awarded in advance.
On the other hand, FITUR 4all is consolidated, the space that for the second consecutive year focuses on all people with accessibility needs to destinations and services in order to promote inclusive tourism.
This project, in addition to rewarding the best initiatives, in 2025 will develop the first Guide to Good Practices in Accessibility to encourage commitment.
The smoke-free industry at IFEMA Madrid hopes to inspire professionals to adopt sustainable practices that contribute to the protection of nature and local communities, as well as to promote responsible participation in the Fair.
For this reason, under the motto "Proud. We are tourism”, FITUR calls on all participants and visitors to join this transformation towards a more responsible tourism that provides real and lasting value to the planet and to people.
