This Monday, the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, and his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, held a telephone conversation in which their commitment to cooperation in the face of the recent terrorist offensive was reaffirmed.
Both leaders accused the United States (US) and Israel of trying to fragment the region and redraw their maps for the benefit of their own interests.
“The terrorist escalation seeks to divide Syria and undermine its independence. It is part of a larger plan designed by the United States and the Zionist regime to alter the stability of our region,” said al-Assad and thanked the continued Iranian support at critical times for his country.
For his part, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of regional unity in the face of external threats: “Preserving Syria's sovereignty is key to ensuring the stability of the Middle East.
Iran is ready to provide all necessary assistance to defeat terrorism and thwart Zionist conspiracies.”
