Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, rejected the request of the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit the country's bombed nuclear facilities, confirming the decision of the national Parliament to cease all collaboration with the entity.
“The Iranian Parliament has voted to stop collaborating with the IAEA until the safety of our nuclear activities can be guaranteed,” Araghchi said through his social networks, reports the Tasnim agency, according to RT.
He also held the IAEA and its director general responsible for the sordid situation his nation is going through after the Israeli attack. “Rafael Grossi's insistence on visiting the bombed sites under the pretext of safeguards is meaningless and possibly even has malicious intentions,” he added.
For his part, the Vice President of Parliament, Hamid Reza Haji Babaei, noted that the decision also includes a ban on IAEA surveillance cameras, after the leak of confidential data from nuclear facilities was discovered in Israeli documents.
In addition, Haji Babaei accused the United States of leading a war against the Persian nation, asserting that “the core of this enmity is not the missiles or the nuclear program, but the people of Iran.”
The law, approved unanimously by the 221 legislators present, determines the suspension of cooperation until Iranian nuclear centers and scientists are fully protected in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and as determined by the Supreme National Security Council.
