This Monday, during a press conference, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmail Baqai, rejected the statements made by the spokesman of the United States (US) State Department, in which he said he must act seriously and that the sanctions imposed against the country must continue.

“There are contradictory positions expressed by several U.S. officials. They must resolve this contradiction themselves. One of the reasons for indirect negotiations is that you cannot be negotiating and continuing at the same time with the policy of pressure and sanctions. This approach is not acceptable,” he emphasized according to information published by Hispantv.

The Iranian diplomat assured that the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly submitted its reports on the matter. He also clarified that Iran's main requirement is the lifting of cruel and illegal sanctions.

“This is a serious and fundamental demand on our part, which we expressed clearly in Muscat, and we will seriously pursue it,” he added.
