This Monday, October 06, in the city of Cairo, Egypt, a new round of negotiations will take place between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas on the exchange of prisoners, as reported by the authorities of that country, who are preparing for the dialogue.
They also took the opportunity to highlight the progress made in the last few hours to facilitate an agreement; for this reason, they indicated that they are actively working with all the parties involved to create an enabling environment that allows the successful implementation of an exchange pact.
They emphasized that the main objective of this first phase of dialogue is to negotiate the release of prisoners and, at the same time, to discuss the withdrawal of the Israeli Army from the Gaza Strip.
It is important to mention that as I finalize the details of the dialogue table in Egypt, hundreds of Israeli settlers demonstrated in the streets of Tel Aviv to demand that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu release those held by Hamas.
For its part, the Hamas movement has recently reiterated its willingness to release those held hostage and negotiate with the Zionist regime. However, their position is based on the condition of guaranteeing Palestinian territorial sovereignty, a crucial point that, according to the statement, the peace plan proposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, seems to ignore.
