The Office of the United Nations (UN) for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported this Wednesday that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) blocked the passage of a medical convoy for approximately seven hours that evacuated 24 patients from the Al Amal hospital, in the city Khan Yunis, in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, OCHA said that the convoy was led by the World Health Organization (WHO) as soon as they left the hospital. They detail that the military removed the patients, including a pregnant woman and a newborn, from the ambulances, and the paramedics, who were humiliated and made to take off their clothes.

The text indicates that three paramedics were arrested by the IDF, “despite the fact that their personal data had been handed over to Israeli forces in advance”, stressing that one of them was later released, while two others remain being held, so OCHA called for their “immediate release”.

The organization recalled that “aid convoys have been attacked and are systematically denied access to people in need”, so, they say, this is not an “isolated incident”.
