Israel releases Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed

The correspondent of the Iranian news channel Press TV in the West Bank, Naqaa Hamed, was released after being held for almost two weeks in Damon prison, belonging to the Zionist state of Israel, after the Salem Military Court issued the release order after being the victim of arbitrary detention.

The journalist, 38 years old and mother of three children, was intercepted last September 14 by occupying forces at a checkpoint in Tuq', in the province of Belén. After being separated from her production team, she was transferred to a detention center where she was subjected to lengthy interrogations about her journalistic work, without formal charges being brought against her.

“His arrest is part of a pattern of harassment,” spokespersons reported, recalling that Hamed suffered systematic attacks during his coverage on the ground. In events that occurred between December 2025 and August 2026, the reporter was injured by rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas in the Qalandia refugee camp, despite being fully identified as a press.

The case of the communication professional reflects the serious situation of risk and intimidation faced by media workers in the occupied territories. Organizations defending freedom of expression reiterated the call to guarantee the protection of journalists and to stop arbitrary arrests in the region.
