This Wednesday, at least four people lost their lives and several were injured after a series of bombings carried out by Israeli forces against settlements in southern Lebanon and the west of the Bekah Valley, Telesur said on its website.
Sources from the Lebanese ambulance services confirmed that the air raids specifically impacted the towns of Zalaya and Mayfadoun, where rescue teams worked to transfer those affected to nearby healthcare centers.
These new military actions take place in a context of high regional volatility, increasing the balance of material damage and human loss in civilian areas of Lebanese territory.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health updated its official records detailing that, between March 2 and May 5, the Israeli offensive caused a total of 2,702 fatalities and left 8,311 people with injuries of varying severity.
Health authorities warn that the hospital system is facing increasing pressure due to the recurrence of attacks in residential and rural areas. The figures reflect a sustained escalation of violence that has directly impacted the basic infrastructure of communities located on the border strip and in the heart of the Becá Valley.
The current security situation remains critical despite the ceasefire agreement established between the Governments of Israel and Lebanon on April 17, a measure that was later extended in order to reduce direct hostilities.
However, this diplomatic pact presents a significant operational limitation because it does not include the Hezbollah organization within the terms of the ceasefire. This exclusion allows the dynamic of armed confrontation to persist on several fronts, effectively invalidating the stability that international authorities sought to establish in the region after the initial negotiations.
The international community notes with concern the vulnerability of the truce as air strikes continue to redefine the map of victims in the south of the country. The deployment of Israeli defense forces maintains its focus on objectives that they consider strategic, while the Lebanese government insists on the need for a total cessation of aggression to prevent a major humanitarian collapse.
For now, the lack of a consensus involving all armed actors on the ground suggests that the number of deaths and displaced persons will continue to increase in the coming days as military operations continue.
