Jedixson Páez back with the Boston Red Sox

Venezuelan Jedixson Páez is back in the big leagues, this time with the Boston Red Sox, the organization that originally signed him as a free agent in 2021 and that loaned him to the Chicago White Sox through Draft Rule 5 last December.

The Red Sox took advantage of the roster expansion this Tuesday, September 1st, to promote the Venezuelan team to the big team along with experienced utility Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list, according to Última Noticias.

On March 26, the 22-year-old right-handed pitcher became the first Venezuelan to debut this season of major league baseball.

The young serpentineer gets a new chance, as he was scheduled to start Tuesday's second game of the series against the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park.

During his tenure this year in the Boston Minor League system, Páez made 20 appearances (including 10 openings) between the Double-A and Triple-A branches. In that period, he was 4.11 effective in 61.1 innings pitched, collecting 74 strikeouts and awarding just seven tickets, a clear sign of an outstanding command over his shipments.

His most recent stretch with Worcester in Triple-A was particularly dominant: he recorded an average of 2.92 clean runs over three starts, accumulating 18 guillotines and a tiny WHIP of 0.73 that ended up opening the doors back to the Big Tent.
