The head of the Unified Revolution Command,
Jorge Rodríguez, questioned the complicit silence
of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, in the face of the kidnapping of 18 children by the United States (USA)
government.
“So far
we have 18 Volker Türk boys and girls, plus Maikelys 19, separated from their
families and kidnapped in the US. Are you not going to say anything about this, are you going to do something about this?
At least so that the indignation of your supposedly human
condition does not fall on you, say something,” Rodríguez said during a press conference.
He also urged the United Nations (UN) Resident
Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Venezuela, Gianluca
Rampolla, to speak out on this issue as well. “You have children, I know, I
know you, say something. Would you like to have one of your children taken from you? I don't
wish that on my worst enemy,” he said.
“Our sisters who are here have the right to see their children, just like your Rampolla, just like your Volker Türk (...) that's why we are not going to rest and we demand that the government of the United States of America return our boys and girls to us. We're going to do it sooner rather than later,” he said.
