This Saturday, October 12, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, condemned the genocidal attitude of Spanish descendants who “are unable to ask for forgiveness from native peoples because they are still persistent in their quest for conquest,” he said.

Also, during the Long March commemorating the Day of Indigenous Resistance , on the occasion of the 532 years since the arrival of the Spaniards to our territory, he recalled that it was one of the greatest genocides ever known in human history, “it was a policy of extermination against the original inhabitants”.

He recognized the original peoples that despite this genocide they remained firm and resisted, “to then emerge free and sovereign (...) we are a free people and that is why we must learn from our original peoples”.

“We are respectful of the peoples of the world, but we will not tolerate any interference against our customs, against our laws, our traditions and our revolution, we will not tolerate it, we will stand firm and anyone who dares to have an interventionist position against Venezuela will receive the forces of the people in the street,” he said.
