The Venezuelan José Maita, the Colorado, won the gold medal in the fourth stop of the National Athletics League, held at the Brígido Iriarte National Stadium, in El Paraíso in Caracas.

Maita was crowned with a time of 1:45.34 in the 800-meter final, beating her best opponent Ryan López.

The time recorded by Colorado (1:45.34) represents its best record of the season and is close to 77 hundredths of its personal record, 1:44.57, which took him last year to his first Olympic experience in Paris, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.

For López, the time trial 1:45.41 moves to his best time for life in this race, which he held at 1:46.30 since July and is in second place. While the podium was completed by Daniel Ruiz, in third place with 1:48.96.

In the women's section, María Rojas Montalbán sealed a resounding victory in the final of the 800, crossing the finish line in 2:06.62, four seconds ahead of her closest rival, Angeli Garrido, who scored 2:10.28.

For Rojas Montalbán, who holds the absolute national record in this race with 2:04.59, this new time represents his third best personal record.

Previously, she clocked 2:06.10 in the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción 2025, last August; in addition, she is the only Venezuelan runner to fall below 2 minutes 5 seconds in the last 20 years.

For their part, adult sprinters Orangys Jiménez and Alexis Nieves led the double hectometer.

The Guariqueño Nieves demonstrated his dominance in the 200 m and won his third consecutive victory of the race with 20.98, accompanied by Keiver Pirela with 21.10 and Raúl Navarro with 21.28.

The Jiménez gazelle led the women's line with 23.59 over her rivals Glanyernis Guerra (23.81) and Emily Aguirre (23.88).

Also, in the 100 hurdles, Luisangel Alcalá led the race with 13.95, followed by Mariangelic Rojas (14.13) and Sahara Boada (14.62). For men, Samuel Cedeño led the final with 14.50, accompanied by Luis González (15.89).

Finally, in the demanding 20,000 meters of walking, Jefferson in Chacón appeared as the greatest exponent, with 1:26:38.40
