On January 12, 1790, in the town of Chaguaramal located near Maturín, Juana Ramírez was born, a patriotic woman who gave her life to the libertarian cause of the people and who, due to her indomitable nature, earned the distinction of “The Advancer”.

This distinguished warrior defended Maturín from Domingo Monteverde's army in 1813, that glorious May 25 when she managed to get a group of women to move towards the Spanish enemy, and with great courage they faced the realists who were defeated.

When Venezuela became independent, Juana settled in Guacharacas (now San Vicente), in the state of Monagas, where she formed a small family with her five daughters: Clara, Juana, Juana Josefa and Victoria.

235 years after the birth of this warrior, symbol of the strength and determination of patriotic women, the Venezuelan people honor their memory and reaffirm their conviction to defend the Homeland, following the example of Juana Ramírez La Avanzadora.

He died on October 23, 1856, and his symbolic remains have been resting in the National Pantheon since 2015.
