This Sunday, Julio César León, a cycling pioneer and the first Venezuelan athlete to compete in an Olympic Games, died.

‎De according to information published by Venezolana de Televisión, Leon, 100 years old, leaves an indelible mark on the history of Venezuela's sports with his courage and passion.

‎ A native of Trujillo, he became the “absolute king” of national cycling, excelling in speed events and winning titles between 1940 and 1942.

‎ He participated in the Olympic Games in 1948, thus achieving his highest sporting aspiration.
