The Venezuelan Karen León, weighing +78 kilograms,
won the bronze medal in the Grand Prix of Judo in Guadalajara, Mexico.
León won his third international podium
this year, after beating Israel's Yuli Alma Mishiner with an ippon.
The Venezuelan made his debut in the joust, beating the Mexican Samantha Carmona Iribe in
the round of 16, after 20 seconds of
combat, through the Ippon, according to the press release of the Ministry of Sport.
In the quarterfinals, she fell by Ippon after 2
minutes 42 seconds to Israel's Raz Hershko who sent her to the
repechage round to fight for third place in the category.
In this instance, the Venezuelan beat the
Italian Erica Simonetti by ippon in the minute and 18 seconds, and closed in her favor
the decisive bronze match against the Israeli Mishiner, who scored two yuko to take third place.
The +78 kilos podium was led by Raz
Hershko (Israel), in second place was the Croatian Helena Vukovic and the
Brazilian Giovanna Santos shared bronze with the Venezuelan.
