Through various communiqués, movements and social and political organizations in Latin America that make up the International Anti-Fascist platform, they confirmed their support for President Nicolás Maduro and the People of Venezuela in the face of any attempt by extremist groups to destabilize the country.
With two days left before the inauguration of the Venezuelan Head of State, the Executive Committees of the Anti-Fascist International of Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru also rejected the plans of former opposition candidate and fugitive from justice Edmundo González to attack the peace of the nation.
“From their humanist, democratic and revolutionary position, attached to the ideals of our liberators, we condemn any attempt to destabilize the Venezuelan process led by President Nicolás Maduro Moros,” said the members of the Anti-Fascist International, Ecuador chapter.
For its part, the Peruvian committee questioned “the pretensions of the extreme right Edmundo González Urrutia, lackey of imperialism (...) to want to destabilize the democratic position of the Venezuelan people.”
From Colombia, they emphasized that “the Venezuelan electoral process of July 28, 2024 is an example of authentic democracy, backed by massive citizen participation, a reflection of the commitment of the Venezuelan people to their destiny.”
Meanwhile, Costa Rica's social movements maintained that “the internal affairs of Venezuela belong to the sovereign people of that sister nation,” after naming former president Laura Chinchilla as a promoter of “the interests of the United States (...) and imperial projects.”
