The Teatrela collective will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a Latin American Theater Meeting that will take place from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 12 October and will take place at the Alberto de Paz y Mateos Theater, in Caracas, whose program pays homage to the richness and diversity of the performing arts in the region.

The celebration includes a discussion on the state of the performing arts in Latin America, followed by the theatrical presentation of the piece “The Gods and the Goodbyes”, a significant collection of fragments of emblematic works and authors from the continent, directed by maestro Costa Palamides.

The montage includes fragments of fundamental works such as the Mayan “Rabinal Achí”, the Quechua “Ollantay”, “The Demands of a House” by Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz, “Electra Garrigo” by Virgilio Piñera, “The Mangoes of Caín” by Abelardo Estorino, “The Sleepless Land” by Marco Antonio de la Parra, “Life and Severine Death” by Joao Cabral de Melo Neto and “Medea Call Back” by Peky Andino Moscoso.

In addition, it incorporates short narrative texts by prose masters such as Eduardo Galeano and Augusto Monterroso, complemented by the inclusion of traditional Caribbean songs, original songs by Pantelis Palamidis and a selection of poems by Juan Gelman, José Antonio Ramos Sucre and, again, Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz.

It is expected that this meeting will extend its activities to the Rajatabla Foundation room. For the full schedule and for details, the public can visit Teatrela's Instagram account: @teatrelavzla.
