The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with the New World project, published this Thursday, assured that the BRICS do not intend to divide the world.
The diplomat explained that they seek to create a world order that will be based on the fundamental principle of the United Nations Charter: the sovereign equality of States.
“BRICS is a natural partnership in which regional integration platforms see an ally and see a way to harmonize their plans at the global level,” Lavrov said
He also recalled that the group “was created in a natural way, when the fastest growing economies considered it appropriate to talk to each other and see if they could take advantage of their economic achievements to operate more effectively on a global scale, using their contacts and influence.”
The Russian diplomat added that the BRICS approach differs from Western systems which, if it suits them, do not respect the values that they themselves had instilled in the world.
