The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that the United States (USA) committed a “brutal armed invasion” against Venezuela, and warned of the threats to peace in the region.

At a press conference, Lavrov said that the world has witnessed an unprecedented event with “a brutal armed invasion of the United States in Venezuela with dozens dead and injured, witnesses of the capture and kidnapping of the legitimate president Nicolás Maduro and his wife.”

“In parallel with these actions, we observed threats against Cuba and other countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region. And, of course, we are deeply concerned about the obvious attempts of external forces to destabilize the internal political situation in Iran,” he added during the presentation of the annual balance sheet of Russian diplomacy.

In the early morning of January 3, the US Army carried out an illegal attack, with 150 aircraft that launched missiles in Caracas, in addition to La Guaira, Miranda and Aragua, with a hundred deaths and the total destruction of homes, electrical, health and educational installations.

Russia has joined Venezuela in clamoring for the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped during the military operation, speaking out in defense of the right to self-determination of the Bolivarian nation.
