The Russian Foreign Minister, Serguei Lavrov, said this Thursday that if, after Donald Trump's victory in the presidential elections of the United States (USA), an initiative emerges from Washington to establish a sincere conversation, the government of the Eurasian country is available.
“We'll see if there are proposals (...) we don't break relations and it's not up to us to suggest that we resume them. But if there is an initiative to sit down and talk honestly, without unilateral demands, about where we are and how we should move forward, we are willing,” Lavrov said.
In this context, the Russian Foreign Minister highlighted the position of President Vladimir Putin, who stresses every time this topic comes up: “Talking is always better than isolating yourself from others.”
Lavrov indicated that Moscow is also willing to listen to ideas from the European Union on the conflict in Ukraine, but so far the position of the block leads to a dead end.
“If there are concrete sensible ideas, we will be willing to listen to them. Until now, from Brussels and other capitals of united Europe, as they call themselves, we only hear spells about the non-alternative to the 'Zelensky formula' itself, which is an invitation to a dead end,” he explained.
